This Loire white tastes like Autumn.
"Vin de Frantz" is a composition of biodynamically farmed Menu Pineau and Romorantin from Frantz Saumon that smells like sticky apples, yet tastes super lifted on the palate. Frantz Saumon’s signature varietal he works with is Chenin Blanc, yet the Vin de Frantz wines allow him to experiment with other varieties. These wines are all about freshness, and are relatively low alcohol.
- Frantz Saumon found his way into the wine industry after a career in Forestry in both France and Quebec.
- In 2002, he decided to switch paths and start a winery in Montlouis sur Loire in 2002.
- He works very closely with his partner, Marie Thibault, and the two have their own negocée label which is in its infancy.
- Menu Pineau has been cultivated within the Loire Valley since the 16th Century.
