For reasons both public and private, 2021 was a horrible year. (I realize by this point, this sentiment is rote.) I happened upon Pink World on a random Monday evening in midsummer -- I was recovering from the one-two punch of the death of a loved one and getting COVID, and my sense of smell/taste was still rickety. In lieu of having an existential crisis, I started taking prodigious notes on my tasting regimen, but it was disheartening: Burgundy tasted like sucking on lemons, and Bordeaux was all dirt and tannin. And then I took home a bottle of Pink World. It's affordable enough that I didn't feel like I was wasting it if I couldn't pick up on the nuances. I put down the notebook and just drank (the whole bottle), and it kind of felt like a veil was lifted. In the intervening months, I've found that some of my favorite women in wine (s/o Laurie, Marcie & Alex <3) love this wine as much as I do. I can't attest that Pink World fixed everything in 2021, but it did make me feel a little more human and little less alone.

***

100% Pinot Noir mainly from a Parcel Frantz Saumon worked for a few years (previously owned by "Les Loges de la Folie") and the rest from a parcel of Pinot he planted himself in 2017.

The cuvée is a nod to his sister whose name is "Rosemonde", literally "Pink World". It's a long and complex bottle with some secondary pinot flavors that remind us a bit of some Champenois rosés.
