A wine that’s BFFs with sushi & veggies.
The Vin de Frantz Colombard is composed of 100% - you guessed it - Colombard. Colombard is probably one of the most underappreciated grapes around, and when made by a deft hand like Frantz’s it can really sing. These vines were directly pressed before fermentation and aged in stainless steel, yielding a mouthwatering, crisp and delicious wine.
- Frantz Saumon found his way into the wine industry after a career in Forestry in both France and Quebec.
- In 2002, he decided to switch paths and start a winery in Montlouis sur Loire in 2002.
- He works very closely with his partner, Marie Thibault, and the two have their own negocée label which is in its infancy.
- Colombard is the grape love child of Chenin Blanc and Gouais blanc; it is a fairly neutral tasting grape and was often used for brandy production.
