The 2018 Way Back Cabernet Sauvignon is a windows-down car ride through cherry preserve and clove. It’s a Santa Cruz, California collaboration project between Hobo Wine Company’s Kenny and Lynn Likitprakong and their Colorado surfer/winemaker friends Jenn and Tim Wanner. Though lighter than its assumed texture, this medium-bodied California Cab still keeps its posture with finer tannins (from the eight months in French oak, perhaps) and a mouth-watering minerality (thank you, slate soils) that’ll make you crave anything off the grill.
