No hot takes this week, just some exceedingly special Chenin Blanc from Montlouis master Ludovic Chanson. Les Pêchers is a demi-sec bottling made from the grapes picked during the second passage through the vineyard when the grapes are beautifully ripe yet maintain a fine-boned acidity. Here's a wine with endless qualities, the fruit both fresh and overripe at the same time. Bruised peaches, nectarines, and candied ginger work to keep your palate engaged. There's a weight and richness reminiscent of the most classic examples of Chenin from Montlouis with the freshness necessary to keep you coming back as it evolves in your glass.
Pairs best with accidentally ordering the Vindaloo from Bombay Street Food and a good record.
