The epitome of Côte-Rôtie.

Côte-Rôtie is known for its otherworldly elegance, a quality that sets it apart from the more robust wines of the Northern Rhône. This blend of 40% Syrah 40% Serine and 20% Viognier made by the legendary producer Jean-Michel Stephan, paints a flawless portrait of what makes Côte-Rôtie so special. The vines used in this wine were planted in 1896, making them among the first planted after the phylloxera epidemic destroyed most French vineyards in the late 19th Century.
  • Jean-Michel Stephan is a legendary natural wine producer within the Northern Rhône, having crafted over 30 vintages of Côte-Rôtie, and he adds zero additives to his wines.
  • When he was a teenager, he left home to work for Jean-Paul Brun in Beaujolais, and he returned to the Rhône in 1986 to plant his own vineyards; his first harvest was in 1991.
  • Jean Michel never adds any sulfites to his wines, and all his wines are vinified using carbonic or semi-carbonic maceration depending on the vintage.
  • The Côteaux de Bassenon is the most southerly vineyard in the Côte-Rôtie.

Pairs with:

  • Classic flank steak with chimichurri.
  • Velvet tablecloth.
  • Candlelit chess games.
