Château La Grolet is a biodynamic estate located in the Côtes de Bourg (right bank) region of Bordeaux, consisting of 50 hectares, 38 of which are planted to vines, the rest being meadows, forests, and wetlands. The vines are planted on a top soil of gravel with a base of clay and silt to a proportion of 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Malbec. The wines undergo a spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeast in temperature controlled tanks. The wine is aged for 12 months in barrel and given a light filtration before bottling.
This Côtes de Bourg is an incredibly complex wine with deep red fruit flavors and a strong minerality. Soft tannins and a broad acidity give the wine an incredible elegance not always associated with the wines of this region.
