For Mother’s Day, we put together a pack that's part punk rock and part just straight up love. Because moms do a lot more than drink rosé and arrange flowers (those are cool too, though). These three bottles tell the complex and interesting story of natural Burgundy. If anyone can understand nuance and rebellious storylines, it’s moms.

Frédéric Cossard 'Bedeau' Bourgogne Rouge 2018Frederic Cossard is a winemaker, business man, and, above all, wine lover. He works in collaboration with several producers and is approaching Burgundy in a way that prizes drinkability. This is his entry level Bourgogne made with negoce fruit from Volnay and Nuits-Saint-Georges, done whole cluster with one year in concrete tank. Gentle tannins, cranberry fruit; a softer approach that is more Wipers than Iggy Pop.

Julian Altaber 'L'Ecume' Vin Petillant 2019First off, this wine is delicious. It tastes like the BEST version of natty pet nat. Julian Altaber is an outsider from Auvergne who struck a deal working as a cellar assistant for Dominique Derain in exchange for making a few barrels of wine. He has since established a long term lease close to Puligny and maintains several negoce relationships. This pet nat is a blend of Aligote and Gamay. Lively, outsider energy—the Bad Brains of the bunch.

Céline et Laurent Tripoz Macon-Loché 'Cuvee du Clocher' 2018: Both from winemaking backgrounds, Celine and Laurent are based in Maconnais (southern Burgundy) and have been certified biodynamic since 2001. This wine is 100% Chardonnay from 30 year old vines aged on the lees for 10 months in stainless steel. Lots of citrus, delicate floral aromatics, and a wine that proves there is still value to be had in Burgundy. They have been making wine from their own estate for over thirty years now and feel a little bit more like the Mamas and the Papas than the Yardbirds. But chill, consistency is nice too.
