Varietals:
72% Cabernet Franc (Santa Cruz Mtns)/7% Mourvèdre (Santa Clara Valley)/7% Counosie (Santa Clara Valley)/7% Chenin blanc (Clarksburg)/7% Muscat blanc (Contra Costa County)
Brix at harvest: 21 (Weighted Average)
Production: 176 cases
AVA: California
Vineyards: Many
Notes: floral, cherry kirsch, leather, cranberry

Farming:
One of the Cabernet Franc vineyards applied non-organic fertilizer in 2020. The Mourvèdre and Counoise vineyard received one pass of a non-organic fungicide. Both vineyards are grown organically in every other aspect. Both growers committed to organic conversion, and as of 2021 both vineyards are farmed completely organically.
All of the other vineyards represented in this blend are farmed organically.

Vinification:
100% destemmed. Fermented and aged separately and blended right before bottling. Aged in neutral oak for 9 months. Native fermentation, no fining, no filtration, no other modifications or additions except 25 ppm of sulfur dioxide during elevage and 20 ppm of sulfur dioxide the week before bottling.

Bio:
I’ve been sitting on the name of this blend for a while, waiting for the right opportunity to present itself. Sometimes fermentations don’t work out the exact way you planned, and you need to find a creative solution to generate the best possible outcome. In January of 2021 I started doing blending trials with the goal of creating a cuvée that brought out the best in what I had to work with.
In the coming years I will continue to play with blending under this cuvée name, as a light-hearted juxtaposition to the single vineyard/single varietal wines that Margins has focused on thus far.

Decant and serve slightly chilled for maximum tastiness.
