Texas Nouveau – need we say more?
Everything’s bigger in Texas, and such is the case with this carbonically macerated Alicante Bouchet. Alicante Bouchet is one of the big bois of red wine grapes, and lovers of Shiraz, Zinfandel and Cabernet should peep this varietal. The folks over at Southold have decided to do this in a style that mirrors Beaujolais Nouveau, resulting in a fresher and lighter style of wine.
- Southold Farm & Cellar was started on the North Fork of Long Island by Reagan and Carey Meador; eventually they sold it and moved their operation to Gillespe, Texas.
- The property consists of 62 acres, 30 of which are steep limestone hillsides that were planted with vines in 2018.
- Alicante Bouchet is a rare teinturier grape, which means it has red flesh.
- Cowboy boots.
- Cornbread and chili.
- Shredded turkey tacos.
