A rare bird.

Virga is a rare bird indeed, composed of Blaufrankisch and Cabernet Franc whole cluster foot stomped before undergoing maceration for one day. The juice was then pressed over whole cluster Pinot Noir and aged for 11 months sur lie in neutral French oak. These grapes were the sole survivors of the 2020 freeze, and this wine was the only Colorado wine produced by Aquila Cellars in 2021.

Aquila Cellars is composed of Brandt Thibodeaux a fifth generation farmer and first generation winemaker and Courtney Gayer, a winemaker and creative lead with a background working at Les Capriades and Pax Wines.
These grapes were lovingly handpicked from the Cottonwood vineyard in Colorado.
Brandt was a former biologist and raft guide, who fell in love with vinifera.
When Courtney isn’t making wine, she’s busy rock climbing.
