Since 1932, three generations have succeeded one another at the head of the Neisson distillery, all with the same motto: “Respect for the terroir, for the raw ingredients and for ancestral techniques.” Distilled in a magnificent 20-metre high Savalle column still, the rhums agricoles are then gradually diluted during ageing. An exceptionally complex nose, a palate dedicated to sugar cane and a very rich finish set the rhythm for tastings of this young bottling with an innate ability to move with rare ease from classicism to modernity.
The complex first nose is characterized by cane sugar, cinnamon and clove. Allowed to breathe, it becomes magnificently exotic (pineapple, mango, passion fruit). Next, heady florals (gardenia) and incense fragrance the aromatic palette. The distinguished attack is energetic yet smooth. Warm, mouth-watering cane sugar spreads across the taste buds. The mid-palate is exotic and the end of the palate tropical (guava tree). The rich start to the finish brings vanilla pod, fresh walnut and saffron. The retro-nasal olfaction invites us to enjoy a rum and raisin ice cream.
Very rare vintage Le Chai Tatanka (individually hand painted bottles) from the 2015 vintage, from a single cask, aged in old Bourbon casks. Bottled at 90 proof.
