This rose takes a different approach to rose. As opposed to fresh and crushable, this wine takes you down a more thoughtful road. While there was plenty of fresh summer fruits, I tasted toasted almonds and strawberry pound cake. Similar to fresh fruit cake: There's that texture of a pillow like sponge cake, slick freshly whipped crème, the pop of acid from summer berries and then there are the toasted sliced almonds that surround the cake layers and outsides. Its oxidative direction reminds me of sherry but not nearly as heavy as sherry a lot of us are used to.
Try a glass with fried desserts like sopapilla and funnel cakes.
