An Orange homage to ancient winemaking.
We could probably take a bath in this juicy, tropical, dry and tannic orange. Winemaker James Jelks has always been fascinated by Georgian wines, and Kind of Orange is his tribute to the wines from this special place. The fruit was harvested from Sauvignon Blanc vines planted in the 1980s in the Feliz Creek’s vineyards well-drained gravelly loam soils. A truly special skin contact because it’s the last time Florez will be using fruit from this parcel near the Russian River.
- Florèz Wines was founded by James Jelks in 2017, and his process is all about prioritizing old world technique and sensibility.
- After completing his degree in Oenology at UC Davis, James studied winemaking all over the world for 10 years before starting his own project in Santa Cruz.
- James has always wanted to visit Georgia and learn more about the country’s ancient winemaking techniques.
