Winemaker Catherine Hannoun is an interesting story. She was a film producer who fell in love with the Jura during her work on the famous wine documentary, Mondovino. After Mondovino, she returned to the region, eventually deciding to take up winemaking in Port Lesney to the north of Arbois, almost to the border with the Doubs départment. She named her domaine after the Loue River, which marks the northern boundary of the Jura départment. Before beginning to buy and lease land, she worked with Emmanuel Houillon, who remains a close friend and influence. The birth of her daughter in 2011 saw a hiatus in winemaking, but she’s building up her Domaine again, with vineyards in Pupillin and Marnoz. Her savignan is aged in barrel and recent releases have been stunning.
