Sumoll Blanc takes up only 10 hectares in the world! This exceedingly rare white grape planted within the Catalonia region of Spain has plenty of good acidity and minerality. This grape is experiencing a bit of a resurgence in these here parts, due to the beautiful wines it makes. The fruit for Can Marti was sourced from vines planted in 1952, and the juice was macerated for 6-8 days prior to the fermentation and aging process in chestnut barrels.
Vinyes Singulares is located 20 km from Barcelona, and the Segui family have been stewards of the land since 1405. The property is a 120 hectare polyculture farm that grows vegetables, grains, and even makes olive oil. In 2012 Ignasi Segui took over the family vineyard, and only tends to the grapes that produce quality wines. Vinyes Singulares means “single vineyard,” as most of these local varieties are sourced from single vineyard plots.
