Pineau d’Aunis – cuz all the cool kids are tryin’ it.
A light, peppery, and ethereal red wine made from one of the Loire’s rising star grapes: Pineau d’Aunis. People everywhere are discovering - and crushing hardcore - on Pineau d’Aunis for its combination of minerallity and spice. A wine that’s equal parts chill and serious when it needs to be.
- Thierry Puzelat, a legend in the Loire Valley, is the OG behind Domaine Pierre-Olivier Bonhomme, founded in 1999; he had a desire to preserve the rapidly dwindling stocks of indigenous Loire varietals like Pineau d’Aunis, Menu Pineau, and Romorantin.
- In 2009, Pierre-Olivier Bonhomme, a motivated teenager with a passion for wine who dropped out of high school, joined forces with Thierry Puzelat and their collaboration received its namesake.
- The 20-year-old vines of Pineau d’Aunis thrive on a mixture of clay and limestone soils prior to being harvested and fermented in barrels.
