Pineau does Pineau.
Julien Pineau, a rockstar vigneron from the Loire, harvested this Pineau d’Aunis from 80-90 year old vines. Sucettes a l’Aunis underwent a two week maceration period with wild yeasts and no filtering. After nearly a century of obscurity, Pineau d’Aunis is definitely having a moment, and this strawberry-infused, peppery red is a friendlier, more chilled-out option for Cab Franc-lovers.
- Julien Pineau initially studied sociology in college, but ultimately found wine after working harvest with Lise and Bertrand Jousset’s in Montlouis.
- Minimal sulfur was added at the beginning of fermentation, but none at bottling.
- The vines thrive on a mixture of clay and limestone soils.
- Spicy tuna roll.
- Serving slightly chilled.
- Victory dances.
