a stellar example of what Alsace can be
Story: Tutti Frutti de Stéphane is a blend of Auxerrois, Pinots Blanc & Gris, Muscat, and Gewürztraminer planted to limestone silt and loess with a bit of chalk. Stéphane Bannwarth is the man behind this particular cuvée under the Pirouettes label, but he may be better known as the head winemaker at his family Domaine in the village of Obermorschwihr, south of Colmar.
- Christian Binner has created a cooperative winemaking situation in Les Vins Pirouettes, an open association with a growing number of like-minded vignerons who cut the old practice of selling high-quality grapes for low prices and instead make them into quality wines under the advice of a renowned winemaker and top quality enologists.
- The wine expresses a roundness aided by nine months élévage in a combination of concrete egg and oak vats on the fine lees. With all of this, the wine maintains a brilliant focus and agility to complement beautifully set fruit offerings ranging from orchard to tropical.
