This IPA knows how to get funky.
A wild IPA, brewed with malt, well water, and wood-fired and fermented with native wild yeast from Virginia-based Brewery, Pen Druid. Not your typical, hoppy IPA, this one has a bit of funk and some pleasant tartness. Can be aged for 1 year.
- Pen Druid was founded by three brothers, Lain, Van and Jennings Carney - who also happen to be a part of a Psychedelic Rock Band, called Pontiak.
- In the winter of 2015/2016, the brothers created their own cocktail of wild yeasts from the Virginia Piedmont, reflecting the unique terroir of the region.
- India Pale Ales were invented by British Sailors who loaded their barrels with hops so the beer would withstand trading expeditions to India - hence the name India Pale Ale.
