We’ve got a new one for you! Vernal is our very first estate Malbec - harvested late last September and fermented semi-carbonically, with a tiny bit of Pinot Noir blended in to round the edges.
This is our first time producing Malbec, and we were inspired to treat it similarly to how we make our Pinots (and everything else, really) - light extraction, playing up the acidity and ripe red fruit without indulging in Malbec’s inky stereotype. The result is a juicy, fruit-forward, lightly tannic red with tons of energy. It’s a perfect late-summer chilled red that can easily transition into a non-chilled fall sipper.
This wine was named for our vineyard, Crane Mesa, which is blossoming in its youth. Fresh + young like spring. Our tiny winemaker, Ahnu, has graced the label :)
