This 100% Garnacha from Bodega Cristo del Humilladero — a cooperative of 120 growers over 120 hectares — captures Gredos’ rustic honesty. Once thriving in the '80s, the cooperative was facing challenges. Dani and Fernando stepped in as consultants, sharing their expertise and contacts to help the cooperative eventually work independently. Gredos’ varied altitude and fragmented vineyard parcels (suertes) pose unique challenges in harvest timing and blending and Comando G's focus was on guiding this process. This is a medium extracted red, with bright acidity and minerality. I love it because it embodies the rusticity of the region in an honest, unpretentious way.
