Charlie farms this Soluna Vineyard Grüner at 1600 feet near the top of Underwood Mountain just across from Hood River, on the Washington Side of the vast and ancient Columbia River Gorge. The fruit was picked on the morning of October 20th, 2022. The fruit was foot tread and cold-soaked for two days on the skins to encourage Grüner’s varietal characteristics to shine through. It was then pressed, settled, and racked into tank for fermentation with an addition of aromatic Gewürztraminer lees to give the juice nutrients for the duties of the yeasts. The wine sat on its lees through the winter, completed malolactic fermentation, and was racked twice before bottling in June of 2023.

The wine is made in remembrance of our loving “GG” whose spirit greatly impacted many as a consummate and selfless mother. In her true sneaky fashion, she posthumously gifted me 100-year-old sterling silver wine goblets with the insignia depicted on the label.

NOSE/Flavors: Fresh aloe, torn off the plant and rubbed into ripe pear skin. Rejuvenating, misty forest in the morning vibes.

PALATE: Leesy, musical waves of texture and movement, glints of chamomile, fennel pollen, sugar snap pea.
