In Ariane's words "Among the pioneers of the quality revolution in Gredos, Ruben Diaz is one of the only locals. He was also Barbara Requejos' (Las Pedreras) mentor in learning the region when she arrived in Gredos in 2018. Gredos Garnacha with age is hard to come by. I saved a few cases of this one upon release. Cuesta del Tejar is made from 85-120 year-old Garnacha vines planted on high schist slopes in Cebreros. A rarity in a region full of granite, showing the warmer, sweeter fruit of Garnacha alongside ripping acidity typical of the schistous terroir there, and some lovely development. 2016 was a cool vintage."

I was lucky to get to taste all the special offer wines this month and this wine is a stunner, beautifully delicate and aromatic.
