A vin de soif with some serious swag. This mostly Cabernet Franc with a smidgeon of Merlot is very very lightly extracted. While thirst quenching AF, it's not to be underestimated as your average, run-of-the-mill chillable red. The inaugural vintage was bottled without a label, and the tradition continues with the 2021 vintage. Because it’s what’s on the inside that counts.
- The Despagnes have worked as vignerons in Bordeaux for three centuries, and Maison Blanche is currently helmed by Nicolas who is striving to get their Biodynamic Certification.
- They’re all about keeping things “old school,” over at Maison Blanche, with native fermentations and using very little sulfur.
- The estate is in Saint-Émilion, on the Right Bank and features heavier percentages of Merlot and Cabernet Franc in their wines.
Vibes with:
- Sticking it to “the man.”
- Swimming in your neighbor’s pool while they’re out of town.
- Drinking this wine out of the bottle.
