A stylishly structured tribute to the Ribiero’s native grapes.
Luis Rodriguez’s Ribiero is proof of the region’s potential for crafting terroir-driven wines with its treasure trove of long ignored native grapes. This ravishing red from Spain’s Ribiero is composed of Brancellao, Caiño Longo, Caiño Redondo, and Ferrol. The grapes were harvested by hand and spontaneously fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel to keep the wine bright, prior to being raised in neutral French oak for one year. A Torna Dos Pasas is medium bodied, spicy and lush with dark floral aromas.
- Luis Rodriguez has been crafting beautiful wines within the Ribiero since 1988, in an effort to shed light on the potential of the region’s nearly extinct grapes.
- He has just under six hectares of vines within the town of Arnoia, a village with some of the steepest sloping vineyards within the Ribiero.
- Throughout the years, he has been steadily replacing mass produced grapes with native varieties like Treixadura, Lado, and Ferrol.
- In his spare time, he distills his own spirits.
