100% Chenin Blanc from Les Athlètes du Vin, a collective within the larger distribution company Vini Be Good, founded by Fabrice Gendrot. The group, which includes established winemakers like Domaine De Belliviere, focuses mainly on the Loire Valley and shares a commitment to common vineyard values. Les Athlètes wines reflect a more collective approach. This bottling comes from 35-year-old vines grown on sandy clay soils, simply pressed and fermented in stainless steel. The result is a classic Loire Chenin with bright acidity and orchard fruit notes, perfect for picnics or as an aperitif.

CHENIN BLANC: 92% of all the Chenin Blanc in France is cultivated in the Loire Valley, where it is the fourth most planted grape, covering over 9,700 hectares. Although the Loire is known as the birthplace of Chenin, its largest production area is now South Africa. Jancis Robinson praises the grape's finest incarnation as long-lived, uniquely-flavored botrytised sweet wines from the Loire Valley, where it has been grown for centuries, perhaps for more than a millennium. Rabelais mentions it both as Chenin and by its common Loire synonym, Pineau. The wine it produces is notably high in acidity. The grape is renowned for its transparency and ability to reflect terroir, making it one of the great wines of the world. Pascaline Lepeltier explains that producing dry Chenins with aging potential is a recent ambition, taking root in the early 1990s. Today, 63% of production is sparkling wine, but it’s impossible to explore the Loire without including dry Chenin Blanc.
