The “Boden Funk" is made exclusively of 100% Muller-Thurgau from 25 year old vines planted in calcareous clay soils. The grapes are harvested by hand, then left to macerate for 24 hours, followed by a period of spontaneous fermentation. The wine rests for five months on its lees and is aged in stainless steel before being bottled.
- Weingut Schlossmuhlehof has been around since 1846 and is now on its 6th generation of wine growers.
- The property is now in the hands of Gabriele, Nicolas and Walter Michel.
- The property was a rye and wheat mill until the 1920s, when the small vineyard attached became the focus of the family’s income.
- The “Boden Funk” label started in 2019 and was designed to express the region’s distinctive terroir.
