Favonius takes its name from the Roman god of the western wind, a nod to the Atlantic influence on the wines. Winemakers Rodrigo Martins and Pedro Cabanita work with organically farmed vineyards around Lisboa, focusing on native Portuguese varieties and minimal intervention. This Touriga Nacional comes from chalky-clay soils in Alcobaça. The grapes are hand-harvested, wild fermented, and aged in stainless steel, resulting in a fresh, vibrant wine that feels true to its place.
QUICK TAKE: I loved the entire lineup from this producer (see the sparkling add-on). This is a fresh, bright expression of Touriga Nacional that really speaks to its coastal location. Crunchy red fruit, great with a slight chill, and an easy pick for burger or pizza night.
