2024 You Can Have It All is out in the world! This was our second year of working with a field blend of white hybrids from the lovely greenstone soils of @zephwine in Loudoun County. Just as in the year before, we picked Vidal, Chardonel, Valvin Muscat, and a tiny amount of assorted hybrid table grapes on a single day in late August and fermented everything together.
This iteration of the wine is Vidal-led, whereas the previous version was majority Chardonel. Vidal (especially Vidal picked this early!) leans leaner than Chardonel, so compared to the 23, this vintage saw more foot treading and a slightly longer maceration for the sake of capturing some texture — we’re nowhere near orange wine territory here, but there’s a real phenolic density we’re pleased with. After pressing, everything went into old barriques where the wine stayed on its full fermentation lees until racking in late spring. There’s a nice little touch of leesy reduction that goes a long way towards holding all the juicy Vidal stone fruit and spicy Valvin aromatics in balance.
