This cuvée is a collaboration between Zurich-based wine writer Chandra Kurt —author of numerous books including Weinseller — and oenologist Madeleine Gay. It is made from Cornalin grown on clay-limestone soils near Sierre in the Valais.

Cornalin is a somewhat complex grape name that can refer to closely related but distinct varieties in the Alpine region, but in Valais it is one of Switzerland’s most respected indigenous reds, well adapted to the local conditions.

In the glass, it shows lifted aromas of violets and a touch of smoke, with flavors of sweet red cherries and elderberries, supported by finely rustic tannins. Distinctive and expressive, it captures both the character of the variety and its Alpine origin.
