The name Ciel D’Orage means, “stormy sky,” and we think that suits this wine and its contemplative qualities perfectly. A composition of Gamay, Syrah and Pinot Noir, this wine comes from the hidden gem of an appellation, Collines Rhodaniennes just above the Northern Rhône.
- Pierre-Andre and Anne Deplaude consider themselves farmers first, and wine was actually an afterthought after operating a thriving grainery and dairy farm.
- In the early 2000s a drop in milk prices instigated a shift in their priorities, and they decided to take some of their most interesting land and convert it to vineyards.
- The Deplaudes made the conversion to biodynamics in 2009.
- The vines for this cuvée are from 15 to 45 years old, and rest for 8 months in stainless steel vats for a fresh and drinkable style.
