The Seehof Riesling is the quintessential Monday through Friday quaffer. Like an LBD, this liquid gold bevvie goes with pretty much everything. Weingut Seehof is a Rheinhessen-based operation run by Florian Fauth. The Feinherb has all the racy acidity of a dry Riesling, with just a kiss of residual sugar for some extra body.
- Florian Lauer is currently the head winemaker at Peter Lauer, and he is a legend in the Saar, known for championing the older historic vineyards of that area.
- For decades, Florian fought German Wine Law to keep the names of some of the older vineyards alive, and eventually German wine legislation made changes so the parcels could be recognized.
- In Germany, Grand Cru vineyards are called “Grosses Gewächs,” which means “Great Growths.”
- Florian is known for his terroir wines that eschew the entire Prädikat system.
