Since 2016, the Mal Bien team has been traveling Mexico, driving off the map and into mountains filled with treacherous roads, police officers of questionable moral character, feral dogs, indigenous languages, narcos, ancient relics, machete wielding protestors, insect based meals, mudslides, blockades, corrupt politicians, and many of the world's kindest, funniest, most brilliant people. In addition to some hard to believe stories, the result has been a bounty of relationships with the country's best distillers, whose work we are excited to share with you.
TASTING NOTES: bright, lemongrass, crushed coriander seed and fresh cut leaves, citrus Starburst chews.

The hermanos Sánchez Altamirano represent the 4th generation of mezcaleros in the Sánchez family. Having learned their craft from their late father, the famed Faustino Sánchez, Poncho & Chucho built palenque “Los Hijos de Juana” named for their mother in 2019, and have continued the family’s legacy.
Mexicano Barril is a single varietal of Agave rhodacantha, unique to Chichicapam. The plants are relatively smaller than other rhodacantha varietals that grow in Chichicapam and neighboring communities. This batch was made by Poncho and Chucho along with another of their other brothers Beto.
