This isn’t your typical, tiffany blue bottled drug store prosecco. The Mongarda Prosecco Brut Superiore is composed of 90% Glera, 10% Perera and Bianchetta all harvested by hand from vines planted in 1950. The vines were whole cluster pressed, and underwent primary fermentation with indigenous yeasts in 30 hectolitre stainless vats, prior to secondary fermentation in the Charmat method.
- In 1978 Bruno Tormena decided to dedicate himself to the career of growing vines after learning his trade from his grandfather.
- Today, the estate has 5-hectares of woods and 12.5-hectares of vines spread between the villages of Col San Martino, Farra di Soligo, Maine and Valdobbiadene.
- In addition to growing Glera, the region’s principal grape, the family grows other heirloom varietals like Perera, Verdiso, Bianchetta, and Boschera.
