The word, “Allegracore,” loosely translates to “the place with the happy heart” and is the historical name of the parcel of Nerello Mascalese that Rosanna Romeo and her daughter, Chiara Virgo, tend for this wine. A single expression of Nerello Mascalese, from organically farmed fruit that thrives on volcanic ash soils on the slopes of Mt. Etna. The wine was fermented, macerated and aged in stainless steel to keep it bright and lifted with minimal sulfur added. T he property is surrounded by a 20 foot wall of petrified lava, creating its own form of a 'clos' - t he wall was formed in 1981 due to one of Mt Etna’s most vicious eruptions, and the lava flow was initially headed for their home prior to taking a miraculous turn and extinguishing itself in the Alcantara river.
