Petra Kujanpää’s Shadowfolk is described as “The Dark Side of the Mosel,” and once you’ve tasted her idiosyncratic, strikingly left of center Rieslings you’ll get it. The Heretic is from her black label range, where she pushes the boundaries and lets the grapes rest on their skins and age on the lees in a big Stockinger oak barrel with zero sulfur added. A powerful, amber-hued Riesling with whiskey-like aromas that will blow your mind.

Petra has a chemical engineering background - and a dark sense of humor.
She decided to get into winemaking because she wanted to be in nature more, and her wines are sourced from old abandoned vineyards throughout the Lower Mosel Valley in Germany.
The name Shadowfolk is inspired by C.G. Jung’s concept of shadow work, the process of taking strength from one’s darker sides that society tells us to suppress.
Petra macerates her wines in different vessels including fiberglass, steel, wood and concrete.
