We've seen an unfortunately scant number of wines from the Auvergne in shop. Of course, this region has largely receded on its wine generation in the last century or so. But what we have found there in the last few years has been nothing short of transfixing. Sitting between the Loire and the Rhône, Auvergne hosts winemaker Henri Chauvet. He's got 10.5 hectares in Boudes planted to mostly Gamay with some Chardonnay and Pinot Noir as well, and will do some negoc fruit (as seen in the Échappée Belle).

We carried some of his wines at the end of last year; you might remember Chauvet entering as Meri's official WOTY on account of the
"verve, an aliveness -- unapologetic primary fruit, a volcanic tang and a lot of heart & soul."
