This dark rosé blend of Syrah and Grenache from calcareous rocky soils in Occitanie sees carbonic maceration and direct press. It then gets aged in barriques.
Romain Le Bars is one of the younger vignerons leading the natural wine movement within the Southern Rhône.
He farms a small 1.5-hectare vineyard, and his first harvest was in 2018. He also rents 3 hectares in and around Lirac.
Prior to stepping out on his own, he worked with Eric Pfifferling from Domain L’Angelore.
He is a fan of carbonic maceration and direct press, and uses zero sulfur in his wines. He describes his wines as “not red and not white, you shouldn’t judge them by their colour.”
