This 100% Chardonel (not a typo) is a cross of Chardonnay and Seyval. This offering from Virginia-based producer, Quartzwood, was partially barrel fermented and aged in a mixture of demijohns and neutral oak with lots of lees stirring. The resulting wine is generous, with loads of white peaches on the nose and a citrusy tang.
- Quartzwood is a small farm co-owned by Sarah Searle and Ben Sedlins in the Potomac Highlands that specializes in growing mushrooms in addition to crafting wine.
- Sarah and Ben are very active in their community, and do their part to protect these lands from the ever increasing threat of urbanization.
- Quartzwood farms is located on the unceded traditional land of the Manahoac people.
