Tears of Vulcan - we’re talking about the Roman god of fire, not Spock on Star Trek - is a bright and floral skin contact wine with plenty of grip. Tears of Vulcan is composed of 49% Viognier, 43% Pinot Gris, and 8% Muscat from organic vineyards in the Chehalem Mountains AVA in the Willamette Valley, Oregon. The fruit sat on its skins for 23 days during the primary, then was pressed and raised in 90% neutral oak. Just 10% of a mix of new French and Acacia oak were used for added texture. .

Day Wines was founded by Brianne Day, who caught the wine bug after visiting Italy at 19. Her first vintage was in 2012.
Her wines are sourced from a small group of Oregon growers who utilize Biodynamic, Organic, and or Sustainable vineyard practices.
The Chehalem Mountains AVA is 20 miles Southwest of Portland, and has a patchwork of different soils that range from volcanic, marine, and windblown sediments.
